Alfred and Edna Rajek Memorial Scholarship
Alfred and Edna Rajek, were born, raised, and lived their entire lives in Lincoln County. They had one daughter, Judy and one granddaughter, Shelly. They were married for 51 years in which they worked side-by-side. They were hard working people who believed you had to work for things you wanted in life. In addition to farming, Alfred played the saxophone in a local band and Edna worked at the local cannery in an effort to make just a little more money to make ends meet. They were incredible people—Alfred always had a joke to tell and Edna always was ready to make someone an afghan. Through the years, health care professionals made an impact on their lives, when Alfred was diagnosed and survived Hodgkin’s disease and Edna suffered a stroke. This scholarship is in their memory to an individual from Lincoln County, who is enrolled in a health care program and has shown that they are working hard to achieve what they want in life. This scholarship was established by NTC Alumni and former Vice President of Learning, Shelly Mondeik to honor the memory of her grandparents, who made a difference in her life—now they can continue to make a difference in someone else’s.
