Charles & Marguerite Trempe Scholarship

The Trempes were life-long residents of Wausau, where Charles worked at Kraft and Marguerite was a housewife. They were frugal. They had to be, raising seven children. They never owned a brand new car, so Charles (Mr. Trempe) became passionate about auto mechanics. He and his sons spent many hours working on projects in the garage. When Charles passed away in 2008, the family carried out one of his wishes by creating this scholarship. He would be thrilled to know that the very first scholarship was awarded to a female interested in auto mechanics. Though he taught his four daughters the basics, how to check the oil and the air pressure in the tires, none of the girls took up his hobby.
