Benedict & Elizabeth Stubinski Memorial Scholarship
Ben and Betty Stubinski, were both born in 1920, and became children of the Great Depression. They grew up knowing what hard work is and what struggling for a dollar meant. For them education was limited and the money they earned as children was given to their parents. When WWII started, Dad enlisted and then wrote Mom a note to meet him in Chicago, and they eloped. After the war, they returned to what they knew, farming. Dad attended NTC and received a farm trainee’s certificate in 1952. When Mom was 50, she came to NTC and worked hard to get her GED. It is never too late to learn. They believed in giving to the community, a legacy they passed on to their children. This scholarship was established by Suzanne and Ron Dirks. Suzanne and her sister (and their husbands) graduated from NTC in the 60’s, her son is also a graduate and her daughter works at NTC. They truly have a family history at NTC!
